This map of the Kandos / Rylstone area began as a tourist map for the local business group in 2017. I wanted to create a map that worked like a spoken set of directions eg.”When you get to the T intersection turn right…”, with imagery that reflects the subjective experience of driving through Kandos and the surrounding paddocks and bushland.
The circular world-like form gives Kandos and Rylstone a horizon from wherever you are standing. By giving it a horizon, my hope was that through a reflection on its beauty, we would take care of it.
